An original educational schematic with selectable left and right knees, extending through the middle thigh and middle calf/shin. Muscle and bone segments continue beyond the crop; this does not show their full lengths. Shapes, attachment areas and proportions are simplified. Colors distinguish tissue families. The right specimen mirrors the same schematic geometry; it does not represent measured differences between two individual knees. Attachment highlights identify regions of a ligament, not additional ligaments.
Four illustrative motion paths show bending, terminal extension, small rotation with the knee bent, and a tibia-fixed squat. Patellar tracking and soft-tissue deformation are approximate, not patient-specific kinematics. The model does not calculate forces, ligament strain, injury, or muscle activation. Actual movement depends on loading, anatomy and activity.
The separation control is an exploded diagram, distinct from joint motion. Small vessels, nerves and fat pads are omitted. The synovial lining is simplified; cruciate ligaments lie inside the capsule but outside the synovial cavity.
